F.D. Shepherd, Jr. 71 of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1939 in Wilkes County to the late Fidell Benjamin and Sible Irene Pruitt Shepherd. He was a supervisor in the Poultry industry for 30 years and retired from Holly Farms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former spouse, Mary Ann Roten; 1 brother, Donnie Hall; 3 sisters, Arglie Absher, Helen Wyatt and Betty Shepherd; 1 son, Ray Von Shepherd; and 2 grandchildren, Justin Dale and Wesley Boyd Shepherd. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty, of 28 years of Taylorsville. 2 brothers, Dean Shepherd and wife Faye; Rex Shepherd and wife, Rita; stepfather Don Hall, each of McGrady. 2 sisters, Dellis Huffman and spouse, Gilbert of Wilkes County, and Ruby Whitley and husband, Randall of Traphill; 2 sons, Roger Dale Shepherd and William Boyd Shepherd, and wife Tammy Leigh all of Taylorsville. Stepsons include Bradley Carpenter and wife, Hope, and Jerry Carpenter - all of Lansing. Grandchildren; Dawn Hudson, and husband Chad of Hickory, Cassidy Adams and wife Ashley, Michael Lloyd Shepherd, Cody Shepherd, Crystal Shepherd, Kyle Ravon Shepherd, Katie Jean Shepherd, and husband Tommy, and Kayla Jade Shepherd all of Taylorsville. Step-grandchildren: Kelsey Leah Carpenter, Kimberly Nicole Carpenter of Jefferson; Corbin Bradley Carpenter of Lansing; Sherina Lecole Roten of Creston. A number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Shepherd will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 PM with memorial services held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 1:00 PM with the Revs. Arlie Roten, Sam Vallini, and Brad Johnson officiating. All services will be held at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville. Burial will follow after the service at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
