Faye Alice Burner, a distinguished lawyer and dedicated advocate for families in need, passed away at her home in Alexander County on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on Tuesday, August 30, 1955, in Duval, Florida, Faye lived a life marked by commitment, compassion, and service to others.

Faye pursued her law degree at the University of Florida and earned a JD. Faye's professional journey as a lawyer was deeply intertwined with her passion for pro-bono work, where she provided legal assistance to families who could not afford a lawyer. Her contributions to the community and her unwavering support for those in need made a significant impact on the lives she touched. As a proud member of the United States Navy, Faye distinguished herself as a sharpshooter and officer in the JAG Corp, exemplifying her dedication to her country. 

Faye held a special place in her heart for her family, cherishing the moments spent together, which brought her immense joy. She was a beloved sister to George Clark Burner Jr. and had a fond affection for her poodles, Chesney and Cherie. Additionally, she leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will remember her with love and admiration.

While residing in Florida, Faye was actively involved in Riverside Park United Methodist Church and sang in the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jacksonville, Florida, where she connected with her community through faith and friendship. Faye was a member of the Rotary Club in Asheville allowing her to help her community.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alice Leighton Burner, and her spouses, Wendy Rae Myers and Lynne Phillips. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Faye Alice Burner will be remembered not only for her impressive career and military service but also for the warmth she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
