Florrie R. Elizabeth Kerley, age 84, of the Mt. Herman Community, Ellendale, passed away on Sunday, April 21 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born August 27, 1928 to the late George Lindsay and Beatrice Earl Watts Rogers. Florrie enjoyed staying at home raising her seven children and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Mt. Herman Baptist Church she was also involved with  VBS, Kitchen Committee, WMU and an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of Gideon's International . In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son - Doug Kerley. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years - Kenneth Kerley, of the home; sons - Roger and Carol Kerley, of Mt. Airy and Guy and Connie Kerley, of Taylorsville; daughters - Martha and Barry Johnson, Patsy and Lanny Stewarts, Robin and Ronnie Jones, all of Taylorsville and Sharon and Ralph Clanton, of Albemarle, NC; brothers - Lee and Mary Rogers, of Taylorsville and Earl and Dakota Rogers, of Cannon City, CO; sister - Ann and Frank Greer, of Lexington, NC; daughter-in-law Jan Kerley of Wilkesboro;  17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. Service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Schronce and Clyde Kerley  officiating. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt. Herman Baptist Church - Po Box 697, Taylorsville, NC 28681; The Gideon's International - Po Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214 or to the Donor's Choice.
Grandsons will be serving as Pallbearers - Les Stewart, Ben Stewart, John Kerley, Michael Kerley, Casey Kerley, Colby Kerley, Andrew Clanton, and Logan Jones.
