Frank "Butch" Eugene Minyard Jr, 64, of Bethlehem, went to be with his "Lord and Savior" on Friday, June 10, 2016. He passed away at Catawba Regional Hospice following a lengthy illness. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem where he attended for the last forty years and served as a deacon and choir director.
Born in Catawba County on August 12, 1951, the son of Frank Eugene Minyard Sr. and Betty Ruth Moore Minyard. He was the oldest of four children. He graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1969, where he met the love of his life, Jan.
Butch learned the plumbing trade at an early age at his father's side and in 1980, founded Minyard Plumbing which he operated successfully for over thirty years, before turning the reins over to his children. Butch was known for his integrity and the quality of his company's work.
Butch was very skilled with his hands and could build or work on almost anything. He loved restoring and showing old tractors and cars. He won several awards for the quality of his restorations of which he was very proud. He was a charter member of Foothills Antique Power Association, flying radio controlled aircraft. He enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, and four wheeling. He loved life and laughingly said, "I will never grow up."
He was preceded in death by his father Frank Eugene Minyard Sr.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Jan Minyard, son, Scott Minyard & wife Mitzi, daughter Amy Hallman & husband Wesley, granddaughters, Savannah and Emily Elder, , mother, Betty Overcash, brother Kenny Minyard, sisters: Barbara Houston & Judy Minyard; and father and mother in law, Frank & Kathleen McLean. Butch leaves behind a large extended family including his church family & close friends. The family wishes to thank Catawba Hospice & caregivers, Amy Adams, Katie Icenhour, Melanie Shumaker, Denise Baker, Linda White, Melany Keener, Shelby Tilley, and Lisa Bumgarner.
Visitation will be Monday, June 13, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem from 1:00-2:30 pm. The funeral will follow at 2:30 pm. The Rev. Phil Chapman, Rev. Jim Belcher, Rev. John Gray, and Rev. Marcus Benfield will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will include: Gwyn Wallace, Butch McIntyre, George Hilton, Charles Bolick, Wilson Sigmon, Steve Campbell, Tim Hollar, and Teddy Hefner.
