Franklin Dwight Johnson, age 80, of Taylorsville, went home to be with the good Lord Friday, June 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born to the late James Arthur and Letha Mae Parker Johnston in Alexander County, on Thursday, December 20, 1934. Dwight was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired tobacco farmer. He loved to fish, raise a garden, and especially loved family above all. He couldn't have been more proud of them. He always took the time to thank the "Ole Messiah" for his many blessings. He was a very loving Daddy, Papaw, brother, uncle, who will be forever missed terribly.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Johnson, Harold Johnston; one sister, Helen Tickle; and infant son, Ricky Dean Johnston; a grandson, Wesley Dwight Kerley; mother of his children, Thelma Wallace Johnston.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Cindy Johnston Wills and husband Chuck, Lisa Johnston Kerley-Stiles and husband Chris; grandchildren, Thomas Charles "TC" Kerley Jr. and fiancée Ketha Dawn Moyer, Autumn Dawn Johnson and husband Jordan, Adam Wayne Reese, Jordan Zachery Stiles, Miciah Brooke Stiles; great-grandson, Brayden Wesley Kerley; four sisters, Shirley Roberts and husband Wayne, Mary Wike, Gladys Inman, Ruth Cummings; a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Also a special friend Jean Cline.
Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Funeral services will be at the Taylorsville Church of God, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jamie Steele officiating. Burial will take place in the Family cemetery. Military rights are provided by DAV chapter 84 and 6 of Hudson. In addition to flowers the family requests memorials be made to Veteran's Affairs in Salisbury 1601 Brenner Ave; Salisbury, NC 28144 or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone in their time of need.
