Fred William Chapman, age 72, of Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his residence.  He was the son of the late Ned Crowson and Beulah Dyson Chapman born on May 24, 1943 in Alexander County. He was employed by Craftmaster Furniture for 40 years as a quality control inspector. Fred was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. At church he helped out with the Preschool Nursery, attended Sunday School regularly and was an umpire for Baseball & Softball with the Alexander County Recreation Department. He married his loving late wife Bonnie Bumgarner Chapman on February 28, 1964.

In addition to his wife and parents Fred was preceded in death by one brother Ricky Chapman.

He is survived by two daughters Renee Saner and husband Marvin, Anita Hudson and husband Mark, two grandsons; Michael Wagner, SSgt Christopher Wagner and wife Alexis, two granddaughters; Lindsay Hudson, Michelle Wagner, three great grandsons; Gabriel, Tony, & Hunter Wagner, two great granddaughters; Jillian Wagner & Aylivia Hubbard, sister Patsy Goforth and husband Donnie, two brothers Larry and wife Jenny, Hall and wife Kay, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Service from 5:00-7:00 pm. Burial will follow at a later date in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Hospice Alexander County, 50 Lucy Echerd Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681 or Wilkies Grove Baptist Church Back Pack ministry, 5780 Wilkies Grove Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602
