Gaetano Sanniota, age 85, of the Bethlehem community, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Mr. Sanniota was the son of the late Vance Bincenzo and Assunta Borromeo Sanniota on July 3, 1930 in Naples, Italy. He arrived in America in 1951, following his sister & parents with his siblings.
Gaetano loved beautiful furniture, woodworking, yard work, and gardening. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Gaetano was employed by Century Furniture of Hickory as a supervisor for 40 years.
In addition to his parents Gaetano was preceded in death by brothers Gaetano and Robert.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Icard Sanniota, daughter Tamie Jones & Chris of Wake Forest, one son Tony Sanniota & Vivian of Mountain View, five grandchildren; Deana Adkins, Michelle Mankins, Anthony Sanniota, Meredith Jones, Nick Sanniota, six great grandchildren, one sister Maria Starnes of Grace Chapel, three brothers; Guido Sanniota of Grace Chapel, Vic Sanniota of High Point, Renato Sanniota of Port St. Lucie, FL, and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 1:30-3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service with the Funeral service following at 3:00 pm in the Chapel. The Rev. Dan Snyder and Rev. Wayne Caviness will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include; Chris Jones, Anthony Sanniota, Kyle Adkins, Scott Mankins, Phil Icard, and Michael Icard. The family requests that in addition to flowers that memorials be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 7500 NC Hwy 127; Taylorsville, NC 28681
