Garland "Bugs" Whittaker Jr

Garland Eugene “Bugs” Whittaker, Jr. age 77 of Conover, passed away at his home on Sunday evening, March 21, 2021. Mr. Whittaker was born on May 5, 1943 to the late Garland Eugene and Ellora Trivette Whittaker in Tazewell Virginia.
“Bugs” as he is known enjoyed cooking, bluegrass, country music, hunting, crappie and striper fishing.
Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Whittaker include his wife of fifty-six years, Judy “Darlene” Miller Whittaker, son, Todd Whittaker (Suzzy), sisters, Margarett Lawing (Alek), Sue Bethke (Chester), and Cathryn Whittaker, grandchild, Anthony Thao, many special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whittaker’s body will Lie-in-State at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ in Conover, NC on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Service will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Peggy Stout will officiate. Burial will be in the Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Statesville, NC. Pallbearers will be Rodney Lawing, Willie Hall, Bobby Robinson, John Setzer, Ward Medlin, Paulie Miller, and honorary pallbearers will be the nephews of “Bugs”.
