Gary Wayne Lackey

Gary Wayne Lackey, age 53, passed away at his residence in Alexander County on Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was born to the late Charles Hugh Lackey and Sally Jolly Lackey on Wednesday, July 23, 1969, in Iredell County. During his working career Mr. Lackey worked in the furniture industry. Gary enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Lackey; maternal grandparents, Hackett and Pearl Jolly; paternal grandmother, Mammie Lackey; and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish the memories of Gary include his sister, Debbie Lackey Dillard; brother, Charles Allen Lackey; nephew, Todd Harrington; niece, Ashley Earp; great-nephew, Simon Bare; great-niece, Abbie Bare; and several extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Stony Point Baptist Church Cemetery at 4:30 pm. Rev. Keith Bowman will officiate.
