Gary Nolan Shew

Gary Nolan Shew, age 44, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his home in Alexander County. He was born Monday, February 4, 1980, to Joye Harrington Spivey and the late Warren Steve Shew in Catawba County. Mr. Shew was a former police officer for Troutman Police Department and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Gary enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, Hot Wheels, and Air Jordans.

Including his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Shew, maternal grandparents, Charlie Harrington, and Hattie Arlene Coloniger and husband Charlie. 

Those left to cherish the memories of Gary include his mom, Joye Harrington Spivey of Hickory, fiancé, Tina Hertzler of Taylorsville, daughter, Olivia Morgan Shew of Taylorsville, son, Justin Tyson Shew of Taylorsville, sister, Lori Presnell Hall of Wake Forest, brother, Barry Steve Shew wife Brandy and their daughter Trinity Shew of North Wilkesboro, paternal grandmother, Martha Shew, his dog, Max, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church at 6:00 pm. Rev. Barry Steve Shew will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family at Alexander Funeral Service, PO Box 40, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
