George Washington Bumgarner,

George Washington Bumgarner, age 63, of Taylorsville, passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was the son of the late Ellis Hayes and Wayburn Marie Harris Bumgarner on May 4, 1952 in Catawba County. He was employed by Leathercraft Furniture as a upholsterer. George loved nothing more than being a father. He enjoyed fishing and was a collector. He always made time for his family and friends. He served in the United States Army and was awarded the Purple Heart.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rita Sue Boggs Bumgarner and son Buddy Allen Bumgarner.
George is survived by four daughters; Tina Juarez of Wilkesboro, Lydia Whitener and husband Tim, Christy Rivera and husband Carlos, Linda Boggs, all of Bethlehem, thirteen grandchildren, three brothers; Eddie, Ellis, & Henry Bumgarner, and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:30 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Service. The Memorial service will follow in the Chapel at 7:30 pm. Military rites will be offered by D.A.V. Chapters 84 and 6. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 27, 2015 at Friendship Lutheran Church in Taylorsville.
