Georgia Carr Bentley, age 74, formerly of Taylosville and Wilkesboro, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, in Franklin Woods Comm. Hospital in Johnson City, Tn. following a brief illness. Born in Johnson City, April 10, 1940 to the late Glenn Virgil and Lilly Naomi Lowe Carr, Georgia retired from Broyhill Furniture, in Taylorsville. She had been a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church in Taylorsville, and Moravian Falls Baptist Church in Wilkesboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sherman Bentley, as well as one daughter, Dinah Hines and one sister, Oliva Hale, and three brothers, John, Glenn, and Jack Carr. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Shew{Peter}, of Wilkesboro and Lilly Carol Bentley of Taylorsville. Mrs. Bentley has two sons, Roy Dean Bentley{Angela} of North Wilkesboro and Richard Glenn Bentley of Wilkesboro, N.C. She has nine grandchildren, Ricky McCarter Jr. of Mooresville, Wendy McCarter, and special friend, Dave Bronson, Joshua McCarter, Chasity, Candy, and Corey Bentley, all of N. Wilkesboro, as well as Wesley Elder of Hiddenite and Justin Greathouse, of Taylorsville. There are two sisters surviving, Mary Ellen Carr and Ruth Wilson, Pheonix Az. She has a half sister, Birtha E. Elledge Fall, of N. Wilkesboro, and a half brother, David Fletcher, of Hiddenite. Georgia has five great grand children and a host of nieces and nephews. She is survived by a very special friend and companion Jim Absher and a god-daughter, Becky Royal of N. Wilkesboro. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014 from 4-5:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service in Taylorsville, with memorial services at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Rev. Gary W. Jennings will officiate. Arrangements entrusted to Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service.
