Gerald Howard Chapman, age 62 of Taylorsville, passed away at Wake Forest Medical University on Monday, September 23, 2013. Born in Alexander County on December 30, 1950 to Roland Richard and Ellen Sue (Fox) Chapman, he was employed by Alexander County Animal Control and a member of Liledoun Baptist Church. He enjoyed horseback riding, classic cars, and was a fire arms enthusiast. As a veteran of the United States Army he served in the Vietnam era. Those remaining to cherish his memory are his mother - Ellen Fox Chapman of Taylorsville; one sister - Joye Brown and husband, Levaughn of Taylorsville; one nephew - Justin Brown and wife Beth of Charlotte; one niece - Wendy Triplett and husband Josh of Taylorsville; two great nephews - Blake and Eli Ledford, both of Taylorsville; two great nieces - Ainsley and Megan Brown, both of Charlotte; three aunts - Genieve Harrington, Margie Presnell, and Mary McGlamery all of Taylorsville,. He also leaves behind two special cousins - Barry and Jimmy Harrington, both of Taylorsville and a special friend Gail Beam of Conover. He is preceded in death by his father - Roland Chapman.
Visitation for Mr. Chapman will be held at Liledoun Baptist Church on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm with the Funeral service to begin at 5:00 pm with Rev. James Lockee and Rev. James Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
