Glenard Lee Cook, age 84, of Taylorsville passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Valley Nursing Center. He was born in Burke County on March 24, 1933, to the late Forest and Bessie Bennett Cook. Before retirement, Glenard had worked for Broyhill Furniture in Conover for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid fisherman. He was one of the most humble and politest men that you could ever meet. Glenard was loved by so many and he will truly be missed, but will forever be in our hearts. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn A. Cook; sons Vernon & Randy Cook; brothers Jimmy, David, Carl, & Carroll Cook; and sister Delmar Cook.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Warren Huffman & Dale Cook; daughters Judi Rich (Roger) & Lori Mooney (Dale); sisters Velma Chester, Jeanette Berry, & Zelda Lambert; one special sister-in-law Kathleen Cook; and a numerous number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, & cousins. The family would like to give a special thanks to all those at Valley Nursing who loved and cared for Glenard over the past three years.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service and the funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm with the Pastor Michael Medlock officiating. Burial will follow at Hiddenite Cemetery.
