Glenn Edward Reed, age 85, of Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Valley Nursing Center. He was born on April 11, 1929 in Catawba County to the late Talley Schroggs and Edna Bowman Reed. Glenn was retired as a truck driver and he attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a Sunday School teacher and an avid fisherman and hunter. Glenn also loved to mechanic. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, and by stepmother, Lucille Reed. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ruth Hoyle Reed of the home; children: Glenda Drum and husband, Ronnie of Shelby, NC, Debbie Little and husband, Johnny of Bethlehem, Susan Land and husband, Tony of Morganton, John Reed and wife, Lisa of Olin, NC, and Amy McDonald and husband, Ronnie of Bethlehem; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 7 brothers: Carroll, Nick, Lonnie, Alton, Vernon, Michael, and Rex Reed; 3 sisters: Christine Martin, Dianne Gwaltney, and Teresa Thacker; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend: Archie Pearson, of Bethlehem.



Visitation will be on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The service will be on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Morris and Rev. Tony Land officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Bryan Drum, Jason Drum, Travis Little, Mark Land, Jackie Lail, and Justin Thurman.
