Grace Irene Sigmon Kincaid, age 98, of Conover, passed away at her residence, on Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 2012. Born, May 31, 1913, in Catawba County to the late Edgar Theodore and Claudie Elizabeth Starnes Sigmon, she was a life-long member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, and was an avid gardener, quilter, and conversationalist. She was retired from Ab Hutchinson Hosiery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ben Kincaid; two sisters: Ethel Dellinger, and Catherine Sigmon, as well as three brothers: Clifford, Ernest, and Darvin Sigmon. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kincaid had a special care-giver, Glenna “Ms. Jones”, of Statesville, and a special hospice nurse, Melodie Katz, of Bethlehem. Grace had a special friend, Sheriff Chris Bowman of Taylorsville. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Conover, from 1:30-2:45 p.m. with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Paul Birner, Rev. Matthew Schilling, and Rev. Delbert Roth will officiate.
