Grace Edith Lane Keys, age 91, of Wilkesboro, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Wilkes County on October 16, 1922 to the late William Robert Lane and Edith Janette Brock Lane. Grace was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church where she served as an assistant Sunday School teacher. Besides working as a seamstress for Nan Tomlinson, an interior decorator, Grace also was involved in VFW auxiliary. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Keys; and two daughters: Debra Sue Hayes and Lucy Renee Marley. Those left to treasure her memory include her son: Joe Keys (Maxine) of Wilkes County; two daughters: Lynette Call (Lawrence) of Wilkes, and Dee Dee Cooper (Don) of Wilkes; special nephews: Lane Wood, Barry Wood, and Ricky Wood of Wilkes; and four grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Tim Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include the deacons of the church.
