Grady Pennell

Grady Pennell, age 72, of Taylorsville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born on December 31, 1943 in Alexander County to the late Walter Hugh and Anna Mae Brown Pennell. Grady served in the US Army and had worked as a Truck Driver for Zenith. He was a regular handy man who enjoyed working on cars and loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother: Gene Pennell and granddaughter: Mindy Nicole Pennell. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years: Jane Walker Pennell; son: Michael Pennell and friend Evie Hardiman; daughter: Misty Pennell Oxentine and husband Shannon; two brothers: Roger Pennell and wife Diane and Gary Pennell and wife Teresa; sister: Barbara Pennell Herman and husband Larry; and grandchildren: Mason Pennell and Harrison, Cooper, and Peyton Oxentine.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 3:30 pm. Rev. Allen Fox will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
