Graydon Henry Dyson, age 84 of Taylorsville passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Born in Alexander County to the late O.C. and Julie Barnes Dyson, he was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir. He had worked in the furniture industry for 50 years or more. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Peggy T. Dyson, two brothers Rev. Devon Dyson, and Rev. Bill Dyson; six sisters Ethel Fox, Reba Price, Sybil Mitchell, Ruby Chapman, Ruth Fox, and Hilda Chapman. Those left to cherish his memories are a son Thomas A. Dyson (Denise), daughters Dorothy Watson (Danny), and Kathy Chapman (Danny). Three grandchildren Barry Dyson (Jacque), Daniel Watson (Kim), and Deidra Simms (Matthew). He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren; one sister Bobby Jean Miller; two brothers Maynard and Dwight Dyson as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Dyson family will receive friends at Liledoun Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 13 from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm, with the Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 pm. Dr. James Lockee and Rev. Jeff Chapman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
