Harrell "Todd" Lytle Leighton, age 73, of Taylorsville, finally left his wheelchair behind and crossed River Jordan, clapping and shouting, "God is good" on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Florida on May 8, 1940 to the late Edward Randall Leighton and Ruby Mae Childress Leighton. Todd was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a very active member of Victory Baptist Church of Taylorsville. He was a builder in the construction industry and he loved to play with wood. Todd was preceded in death by his parents: Ruby Mae Childress Leighton and Edward Randall Leighton, along with his stepmother: Frances Leighton; and two brothers: Edward Leighton and Robert Leighton. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, best friend, and caregiver of 18 years: Louise Fournier Leighton; brothers: George K. Leighton, Don Leighton, and Randy Leighton; sister: Patsy Osborne; children: Stacie Leighton, Kelly Gendron and wife Crystal, Kathy Day and husband William, Eddie Leighton and wife Teresa, Michelle Bebber and husband Rickie Jr., Heather Moore and husband Adam, Danielle Collins and husband Jeff, and Tiffany Gendron and husband William; 25 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, church family; special friends: Martha Brittain and Devon James; and a cherished, devoted son-in-law: Rickie Bebber Jr..  Also a special thanks to the staff at Gordon Hospice House for all of their attention and care.
The Leighton Family will be conducting a Memorial Service at Victory Baptist Church, Hwy 16 North, Taylorsville on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 5:00 pm.  They will receive friends following the service.  Rev. Phillip Coffey will be officiating the service.
