Harry Dillard Campbell, age 75, passed away at Valley Nursing Center on Friday, January 1, 2016. Born to the late Lewis Clarence and Lina Margaret McCoy Campbell, in Buchanan County, Virginia on June 6, 1940. He was retired from the coal mining industry having been employed with Page Coal and Jewel Ridge Coal in Buchanan County. Mr. Campbell was of the Baptist faith. Harry loved camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Sidney Campbell and three brothers; Johnny, Leon "Lee", and Chris Campbell, as well as one sister Adabelle "Belle" Melton.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Baldwin Campbell of  the home,  two sons; Douglas Campbell and wife Sharon of Bethlehem, and Raymond Campbell of Taylorsville. He has one daughter Amanda Ventura and husband Anthony of Bethlehem. Harry has five grandchildren; Kayleigh Sheehy-Perry of Greenwood, SC, Nathan Campbell of Cherry Point, NC, Paula Campbell, Anna Ventura, and Anthony Joseph "AJ"  Ventura all of Bethlehem. He also has five great grandchildren. One sister survives, Helen Lutcher of Bloomington, Indiana and one brother remains, Ron Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana. There are a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening, January 3, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville, with funeral services on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Pastor Craig Sigmon will officiate. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Alexander County, 50 Lucy Eckerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC, 28681.
