Harvey Lee Harrington, age 87, of the Pleasant Hill Community, Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Frye Regional Medical Center, following a period of declining health. Born March 20, 1927 to the late Elisha Clay and Mamie Kerley Harrington, he was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Harvey was employed by Crescent Electric Membership Coop, retiring after over thirty-seven years of service in Alexander County. Mr. Harrington was a veteran of WW II having served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, J.B., Grafton, and William Harrington as well as two sisters, Earnestine "Tine" Mitchell, and Irene Jones. Two grandsons preceded him: Alan Harrington and Jacob Deal.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine P. Daniels of the home; four sons: Danny, Junior, Gaylon and Lanny Harrington, all of Taylorsville. Three daughters survive: Patsy Harrington Deal, Barbara Gentle, and Kathy Lackey, all of Taylorsville. Also four sisters: Jeanie Cropley of Oregon, Bunnie Harrington, Shirley Brown, and Mary Milstead all of Taylorsville.  Harvey has six grandchildren: Kevin Gentle, Brent, Ashley, Joshua, and Todd Harrington and Emily Atwood,  and six great-grandchildren: Alexandra, Blake, Brycen, Bella, Beau, and Kanon Harrington.
Graveside burial services were private with DAV Chapter 84, of Taylorsville and Chapter 6 of Hudson providing military honors. Rev. Chris Goforth officiated.
