Hattie Arlene Cloninger, age 89, of Taylorsville went to her Heavenly home on Friday, August 23, 2013. Born in Alexander County on June 13, 1924 to the late Daniel and Dona Orren. Arlene was retired from the Health Care Field where she worked as an X-ray Tech for Alexander County Hospital, Caldwell Memorial Hospital and Richard Baker Hospital. She attended East Taylorsville Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, especially planting flowers. After retirement, her passion was Volunteering for Frye Regional Medical Center, Red Cross, Hospice, Meals on Wheels and BRICK Missions. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Charlie Cloninger; her first husband and father of her children: Charlie Harrington; two sons: Gary Lynn Harrington and Jerry Lee Harrington; one infant granddaughter: Gerri Lynn Harrington; three brothers: Ray Edward Orren, Cedric Orren and Bill Orren and one sister: Effie Ingram. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Gaye (Wayne) Holland and Joye (Dennis) Spivey; daughter-in-law: Martha (Gwyn) Wallace; sisters: Marie (Jimmy) Chapman, Hazel Martin and Linda Holt; half-brother: Danny Orren; grandchildren: Chris Harrington, Chap (Candi) Harrington, Jennifer (Danny) Crafton, Keli (Josh) Wright, Maria (Matthew) Hefner, Tyler (Brittney) Holland, Lori (Kevin) Hall, Barry (Brandy) Shew, and Gary Shew; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Little River Baptist Church and Service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Dennis Spivey and Rev. Jeff Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Danny Orren and Grandsons. In addition to flowers, memorials may be sent to Taylorsville House - Residence Fund @ 350 School Drive, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
