Hayden Franklin Sipe, age 87, passed away on September 7, 2024, in Wilkes County. Born on February 14, 1937, in Alexander County, Hayden lived a life rich with personal and professional achievements, remembered fondly for his commitment to logging timber and the legacy of hard work he instilled in his family.
Hayden was a man of many interests. In addition to his dedicated career logging timber, he was a member of Carson Chapel Church. Hayden also took great pleasure in gardening and enjoyed playing sports during his younger years. His robust spirit and zest for life were evident in all he undertook, reflecting a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors.
Hayden was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Helen Deal Sipe, whom he cherished deeply. He was also preceded by his father, James Sipe; mother, Hester Duncan Sipe; three brothers, Fred Sipe, David Sipe, and Paul Sipe; and a sister, Rachel Sipe Herman. Their memories remain a guiding force in the lives of those he leaves behind.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters, Penny Sipe Costner (Dale) and Lisa Sipe Thomas (Todd) of Stokesdale, NC. His son, Todd Sipe, also cherishes the memories with his father. He leaves behind one brother, Robert Sipe. Hayden's legacy continues through his four grandchildren: Heather Costner Raymond (Michael) of Concord, NC; Victoria Sipe Fox (Landon) of Lenoir, NC; Skyler Thomas of Huntersville, NC; and Shelby Thomas of Denver, NC. Furthermore, he enjoyed the delight of being a great-grandfather to Elliana Raymond, Elijah Raymond, John Fox, and Adielle Fox. He also leaves behind a special friend Sylvia Sigmon and a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation to honor Hayden's life will take place on September 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Carson Chapel Church, located at 1551 Carson Chapel Rd, Taylorsville, NC 28681. This will be followed by a memorial service at Carson Chapel Church at 4:00 pm. Pastor Timothy Sipe and Pastor Jeff Carson will officiate. Friends and family are invited to celebrate a life that was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
