Herman Dorta Jr.

Herman Dorta Jr, age 79, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born to the late Herman Dorta and Hilda Piloto Dorta on Saturday, July 10, 1943, in Bronx, NY. Mr. Dorta served in the United States Navy. Herman was baptized along with his wife as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 3, 1977. He continued his life as a Witness and truly enjoyed talking with people about the Bible and Jehovah God's promises for the future and earth by means of God's Kingdom. He worked for the Miami and Orlando fire departments as a fireman; engineer; EMT and taught fire prevention classes, totaling 28 years. Herman enjoyed remodeling houses, carpentry and building furniture, fishing, working on old cars and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. He especially loved animals and road trips and appreciating the beauty of creation.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sonja Griffin and Eileen Joiner.

Those left to cherish the memories of Herman include his wife, Paula Dorta, married for 50 years as of December 22, 2022; his children, Daphne Gyorok, Kevin Clark, Shannon Dorta; brother, Emile "Butch" Dorta; a grandchild, Kristopher Gyorok; and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Taylorsville, NC, at 2:00 pm.

Inurnment will be with the family.
