Hilda Mae Meadows Reese, age 84, of Taylorsville, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born April 11, 1931 in Alexander county to the late Arthur Lee and Ethel Mae Cook Meadows, she was employed as a clerk/typist for the FBI in Washington, DC, following high school. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Ted Reese, as well as two brothers, Wayne and Lynn Meadows. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where she had served as Secretary to the Church Council, as a choir member, having taught Sunday school and vacation bible school. She was a member of the Lutheran League and the Ruth Circle. She was a homemaker the majority of her life and was known as a seamstress, loving to cook, from her garden and canning the remainder. She enjoyed flowers and reading.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Krohn and husband, Max and Faye Gentry, all of Taylorsville. Four grandchildren, Max Krohn III and wife Brooke of Chapel Hill, Julie DeVoe and husband Jason, of Durham, Leah Wiley and husband Matt of Hickory and Kelly Gentry-Mclear and partner Mary, of Naples, Fla. Great grandchildren, Presley and Henry Krohn, of Chapel Hill,and  Baby DeVoe, expected in November. She has one sister-in-law, Ella Meadows, of Hiddenite. Hilda has a host of nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her beloved pet, "Red".

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, August 4, 2015, from 7-8:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, with funeral services on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 11:00 am at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Taylorsville, with the Rev. Andrew Miller, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
