Hugh Ransom Bowman, 94 of Taylorsville passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Sherrills Ford Hospice house in Catawba County. He was born to the late Keener Bost and Maude Teague Bowman on Tuesday, February 8, 1921 in Alexander County. He retired from Hickory Manufacturing Company. Hugh was a avid gardner, and tobacco farmer. He loved to listen to Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings and gospel music. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lucille Austin Bowman, a brother Fred Bowman, five sisters Edna Montgomery, Beulah Hollar, Lona Crouch, Bessie Austin, and Hazel Benfield.
He is survived by three daughters Sue Ellis and husband Charles of N Wilkesboro, Kay Bowman of Taylorsville, Carolyn Orren of Stony Point, two sons Ned Bowman and wife Jane of Granite Falls, David Bowman and wife Sarah of Taylorsville, five grandchildren Natasha High and husband Brian, Steven Ellis, Scott Bowman and wife Melissa, Michael Bowman, John Bowman and wife Pam, six great-grandchildren Katie, Jacob, and Mollie Bowman, Brayden and Branson High, and Hannah Bowman, one brother Glenn Bowman and wife Faye, and two sisters Betty Echerd and husband Jack, and Gaynell Messick and husband Arthur.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church from 12:30-1:45 pm with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Gary W. Jennings and Rev. Mark Morris will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
