Iris Greer Reid,

Iris Gertrude Greer Reid, 83, of Taylorsville passed away on January 11, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical.

Born in Watauga County to the late Carl and Jeanie Greer, she was a loving homemaker for her family.  She was a member of Oxford Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 3 brothers: Howard, Grady, and Harley Greer, 3 sisters: Louella Reese, Eunice Moretz, and Ruby Adkins; Two grandchildren: Atina Adkins and Shane Adkins; and one great grandchild, Skylar Milwood. She is survived by her husband, Larry Blaine Reid of Taylorsville.  One daughter, Sue Adkins and husband Lloyd; 5 sons:  Roger Adkins and wife Kathy; Lester “Bo” Adkins; Edward “Digger” Adkins and wife, Anita; James “Jim Bob” Adkins and wife Sissy - all of Lenoir, and Colon Reid and wife Anita of Taylorsville.  3sisters: Caludine Coffey, Earlene Walker and Marlene Carter - each of Lenoir.  15 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Reid will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Services from 2:00pm-2:45pm with the funeral service following at 3:00pm. with Rev. Neal Walker officiating.  Burial will follow at Oxford Memorial Baptist Church cemetery.Memorials may be made to the general fund at Oxford Memorial Baptist Church at 2850 Old NC 90, Taylorsville, NC  28681.  Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service has been entrusted with the services for the Reid family.
