Jackson Neilly Evans, age 83, of Taylorsville passed away Thursday morning, January 9, 2014 at his residence. Born in Simmons, West Virginia on November 4, 1930 to the late Edward and Ethel Evans. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of Bethlehem Church of God. Jackson was retired from Hickory Chair where he worked for over 13 years and had also worked within the Alexander County school system as a bus driver and substitute teacher, mainly in the Ellendale Community. He enjoyed being around kids and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter: Rose Diaz, granddaughter: Beaverly Teague and grandson: Jackson Evans. Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Pauline Evans; sons: Jimmy and Wayne Evans; daughter: Rebecca Louann Teague; brother: Earnest Evans; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Bethlehem Church of God and the Service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Michael Nations officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by DAV Chapter 84, of Taylorsville and Chapter 6, of Hudson.
