James Columbus "J. C." Lowe, age 85, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Taylorsville on December 11, 1928 to the late William Roosevelt Lowe and Blanche Deal Lowe. J. C. served in the US Army and attended Little
River Baptist Church. His last occupation was as a press operator in paper manufacturing and he enjoyed gardening, keeping up his lawn, and Nascar, with Richard Petty being his favorite driver. Along with his parents, J. C. was preceded in death by three sisters: Wanda Lowe, Mabel St. Clair, and Rowena Hubbard of Taylorsville. Those left to cherish his memory include loving wife of sixty-two years: Lola Wike Lowe of Taylorsville; two daughters: Nanette L. Jolly and husband Charles of Taylorsville, Julie L. Holdsclaw and husband Brad of Taylorsville; one son: James Roosevelt Lowe of Taylorsville; grandchildren: Casey Gilliland of Hickory, Derrick Lowe, Erin and Caleb Holdsclaw of Taylorsville; step grandchildren: Misty Balk and husband BJ of Mooresville, Kristen Jolly of Taylorsville; great grandchildren: Siddalei Balk and Garrison Duncan; one brother: Wayne Lowe of Taylorsville; and two sisters: Margie Hubbard and Joyce St. Clair of Taylorsville along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Little River Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. Burial will follow the graveside service with pallbearers: Derrick Lowe, Caleb Holdsclaw, Andy Kerley, Rex Kerley, Charles Jolly, Jimmy Wike, and Randy St. Clair. Military rites will be provided by DAV Chapter 84, of Taylorsville and Chapter 6, of Hudson.
