James Grayson Friday, age 83, of Taylorsville passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Born in Gaston County on February 4, 1934 to the late Edgar Ray and Kathryn Mae Mull Friday. He was retired from the NC Department of Corrections and retired serving our country honorably in the United Stated Marines and Air Force. James was a 32o Mason and member of the Brushy Mountain Oasis Shrine Club. He also was a faithful member at Three Forks Baptist Church and loved to fish, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Margorie Ann Moose Friday; and brother: Bing Friday. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons: Lloyd Friday & wife Pam and Frankie Friday & wife Maria; grandchildren: Nichole Barnes, Whitney Simmons, Matthew Friday, all of Taylorsville; and Hannah Herman, of Lenior; six great-grandchildren with the expectation of twins in August; brother: Wilson Friday & wife Gayle; uncle: Glenn Mull, all of Taylorsville; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm at Three Forks Baptist Church and the funeral service will follow at 3:30 pm. The Rev. Carson Moseley will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Friday, Jason Herman, Brandon Barnes, Burke Friday, Ron Younts, Avery Robinette, Justin Robinette, and Kevin Simmons. Military rites will be provided by the DAV Ch. 84 of Taylorsville & Ch. 6 of Hudson with Masonic Rites following by the Lee Masonic Lodge #253 A.F. & A.M. of Taylorsville.
