James Leon “Peanut” Woodring, age 62, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 26th, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 23rd, 1949 in Catawba County to parents James Avery and Gracie Loueva Mays Woodring. Leon worked for Tyson Chicken. He was an avid outdoors and sports fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: James, Arnold, and Alfred Lafon; and 1 sister: Virginia Bell. Those left to cherish his memory include his twin brother, Jimmy Woodring & wife Lisa; 4 sisters: Lucy Kerley, Wanda Michaels & husband James, Gail Walker & husband Wayne, and Patsy Teague – all of Taylorsville. He also leaves behind a host of special friends: Patsy Paige & husband Doug, Denyse Paige, Melinda Mayfield & husband Nathaniel, Jeffrey Paige & wife Heather, and Mackenzie Paige & Skyler Paige. He also leavers behind a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be conducted on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service. Funeral Services will follow on Thursday, September 29th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel where Dr. Marcus Benfield and Rev. Harold Ashe will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Taylorsville. Dale Lafon, Anthony Walker, Jason Woodring, Jeff Paige, Joshua Huffman, and Scotty Kerley will serve as pallbearers. Doug Paige and Robbie Huffman are honoraries. Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
