James Harold Pennell

James Harold Pennell age 84 of Taylorsville passed away unexpectedly Saturday June 25, 2022. He was born to the late Joe and Flora Haithcox Pennell in Alexander County on Thursday June 16, 1938. During his working career James worked as an upholster at several different places. Mr. Pennell enjoyed hunting, fishing, frog gigging, and especially loved his grandchildren.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Donna Hurlburt and a brother-in-law Bernard Berry.

Those left to cherish the memories of James include a daughter Tina Warren (Kelly), son Jody Pennell (Elizabeth), sister Barbara Berry, five grandchildren: Darren Jones, Holly Dula, James Morton, Tyra Fitzgerald, and Courtney Pennell, ten great grandchildren: Ariya Kanipe, Aiden Fitzgerald, Azley Kanipe, Aspen Thomas, Allie Dula, “Jay” Morton, Lily Morton, Haisley Swift, Zoey Jones, Vivian Jones, niece Jolee Gann, and a number of cousins.

Mr. Pennell will have a visitation Wednesday June 29, 2022, at Alexander Funeral Service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow Wednesday June 29, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Alexander Funeral Service chapel. Rev. Paul Schronce and Kelly Warren will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City cemetery.
