James Thomas Smith

October 11, 1947 — March 5, 2022

James Thomas Smith 74, passed away in Catawba County at Brian Center after a period of declining health on March 5, 2022. He was born to the late William and Ann Smith on October 11, 1947. James retired from North Carolina Department of Corrections and later worked as a maintenance supervisor at Supreme Elastic Corporation. During his free time, he enjoyed NASCAR, country music, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 29 years Patsy Maddux Smith, a son James Thomas Smith Jr., a sister Mary Williams, a brother Sammy Smith, and two great grandchildren: Paisley Dula and Jameson Ray Ramirez.

Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Smith include four daughters: Donna Carpenter (Adam), Judy Catlett (Chucky), Robin Fox (Chris), April Brown, eleven grandchildren: Stephen Brown, Brandy Brown, Jennifer Blanchard, Melissa Myers, Lori Vincent, Kimberly Jones (Danny), James Fox (Cassie), Abbie Brown, Shauna Chancy, Maddie Brown, Nick Lund, and twenty-one great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday March 9, 2022, at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Inurnment will be with the family.
