James "Mike" Steelman

January 18, 1948 — October 30, 2022

James Michael “Mike” Steelman, age 74, passed away with the light of the morning coming through his window, with the birds feeding and squirrels playing and peacefully transitioned to Heaven on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 10:45 am. He was born to the late James Henry Steelman and Electa Anderson Steelman on January 18, 1948, in Wilkes County. Mr. Steelman was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church. Including his parents Mr. Steelman is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Steelman, and sister, Joanne Dancy.

Those left to cherish the memories of Mike include his wife of 53 years, Kay Johnson Steelman, sons, James “Keith” Steelman (Monica), Brandon Robert ”Stubby” Steelman (Jessica), three grandsons, James Thomas “J.T.” Steelman (Allison), Matthew Calvin Steelman, Samuel Robert Steelman, granddaughter, Savannah Brooke Steelman, brothers, Henry Steelman (Nena), Danny Steelman, Shirley Curry (Wayne), Bronda Pendergrass (Randy), Patsy Gochenour (Ken), Patricia Steelman (Kent), Dare Marley, and special fur baby, Bella, along with a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
