James Ray Wood

James Ray Wood, age 75, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his home in Alexander County. He was born to the late George Washington Wood and Dorothy Reed Wood on Wednesday, March 31, 1948, in Catawba County. During his working career, Mr. Wood was a truck driver for MDI. James enjoyed racing, drag racing, and working on cars.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Washington Wood “JR.”

Those left to cherish the memories of James include his wife of 20 years, Frances L. Wood; daughters, Angel Belcher (Gary) and Jamie Ray Wood; brother, Sonny Wood (Alice); sisters, Brenda Clay and Sandy Wood; seven grandchildren, Lydia Belcher, Jonathan and Donavon Treadway, Dakota Wood, Dalton Hughes, Kayla Byrd, Gary Wayne Minton; and a number of great-grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.
