Janet Lynne Mays Walker, age 66, of Taylorsville took her journey home to be with her Lord & Savior on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Washington, DC on June 28, 1952, the daughter of the late Lynn & Maxine Stafford Mays. During her career, Janet worked as a Route Carrier for the US Postal Service, a waitress, and also in the furniture industry. She was a faithful member at Little River Baptist Church. Janet enjoyed life and loved to travel. She was an avid member of the Apple City Street Rodders. Her family meant the world to her, especially her grandchildren. She was always there to brighten the lives of others. Janet loved singing and cooking. She was the hostess with the mostess. If she wasn’t in the house working, you would find her out in her flower gardens. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father Daniel Mays.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 41 years Ray Walker; daughters Summer Eldreth & husband Chad and Amber Walker; grandchildren Kassie, Kohen, & Kisha Eldreth and Jaelyn Hopper & Kya Clark; sisters Vickie Church and Deidra Locklear & husband David; brothers Denny Stafford & wife Kathy and Terry Mays & wife Teeney; aunts Christine Fox and Mabel Bowman; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; along with many special friends and lifelong friend Karen Fierro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 3:30 pm at Little River Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Chapman & Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
