JD Bowman,

JD Bowman, age 83, of Taylorsville passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Valley Nursing Center. Born in Alexander County on February 11, 1930 to the late Smith and Pansie Pennell Bowman. JD was a member and a deacon of Mt. Herman Baptist Church and was a former Chairman of the Building Committee. He served in the US Army and worked for Broyhill Furniture for 40 years. He also loved gardening, working in his yard and woodworking. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Burrell, Ralph and Ray Bowman and sister: Kay Bowman. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years: Kathryn Johnson Bowman of Taylorsville; son: David Bowman and wife Tammy of Kernersville; daughter: Jane Ekback and husband Gordon of Boone; grandson: Jonathan Bowman and wife Amy of Gastonia; brother: Thurston Bowman of Thomasville; sisters: Louise Crouch of Taylorsville and Evelyn Bowman of Conover; sister-in-laws: Elaine Bowman of Jacksonville, FL: Mary Ann Bowman of Clayton and Carol Bowman of Claremont and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm at Mt. Herman Baptist Church and the Service will begin at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Paul Schronce and Rev. Stuart White officiating. A private family graveside service will be held prior to visitation. Memorials may be sent to Mt. Herman Baptist Church at Po Box 697; Taylorsville, NC 28681.
