Jerry Edward Mitchell

Surrounded by his family, Jerry Edward Mitchell, age 73, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with Lymphoma on Friday, September 30, 2016. Jerry was born March 4,1943 in Taylorsville, NC to Marlow and the late Sybil (Dyson) Mitchell. He attended Taylorsville High School, from which he graduated in 1961. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara Pennell Mitchell. Together, they had two daughters and a son. Jerry and Barbara enjoyed spending time together as well as traveling to the beach with family and friends. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army for 4 years in Frankfurt, Germany. Jerry worked for Piedmont/USAirways from 1961 to 2002, where he made many lifelong friendships. Jerry loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Liledoun Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the choir.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara; father and step-mother, Marlow and Betty Mitchell; son, Monte C. Mitchell; daughters, Andrea Schroder (Eddie), and Julie Guidry (James); 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on October 2, 2016 from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm at Liledoun Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Steve Dagenhart and Rev. James Lockee will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Lymphoma Research Foundation @ 115 Broadway, Suite 1301; New York, NY 10006.
