Jerry Thomas Barber,

Jerry Thomas Barber, age 65, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly at his home, on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Born on April 24, 1947, to the late John Barber Jr. and Helen Pennell Barber, he was a veteran of the Viet Nam Era, serving in the United States Army, in Germany. He was employed by Royal Comfort Furniture, before his retirement. He favorite pastime was his grandchildren and was a avid Bingo player. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Barber,  one brother, Larry Gene Barber, one sister, Mary Ann Brown, and an infant brother, Johnny Barber. He is survived by a son, Johnny Lee Barber; two daughters - Gail Barber Byers and Amy Barber Elder and husband Phillip, all of Taylorsville; eight grandchildren - Daniel, Courtney and Dustin Barber, Alex and Dalton Elder, Brook and Brittany Barber and Johnny Lee Barber, Jr. Jerry is also remembered by one sister, Janie Barber.

Visitation will be held at Smyrna Baptist Church on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm and a graveside committal service will be held at Friendship Community Cemetery at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Michael Barber officiating.  Military rites will be provided by DAV Chapters 84 and 6, of Taylorsville and Lenoir.
