Jimmy Eugene Lackey

Jimmy Eugene Lackey, a cherished husband, father, stepfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Alexander County on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on Monday, July 23, 1951, in Iredell County, Jimmy dedicated much of his life to his career as a supervisor at Carolina Fabrics, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues.

Jimmy had a profound love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Dean Lackey; his son, Michael Lackey (Kelly); and his daughter, Jody Holland (Rick). The joy of his life also extended to his five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. In addition to his immediate family, Jimmy is remembered fondly by his siblings, Earl Wayne White, Dianne Griffith (Ray), Joan Carter, and Deborah Pierce (Doug), as well as his beloved fur babies, Sable, Dexter, and Max. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Jimmy was known for his hobbies and interests; he enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, and riding motorcycles, finding joy in these activities throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A family-led graveside service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville, North Carolina. The service will start at 3:00 pm. Rev. Lynn Pritchard will officiate.

Jimmy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, guiding them with the kindness and love he so freely shared.
