Jimmy Lee Parsons, age 64, of Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Jimmy was born to the late Robert Franklin Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Howell Parsons on June 22, 1951 in Alexander County. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church and of the men's choir. Jimmy was known for his love of horses and his strong work ethic. He loved his family who came second only to God. Jimmy enjoyed pitching horse shoes, riding horses, going fishing, and working on cars.
In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by brothers: Ned, Ross, Rance, John, & Willie Parsons; sisters: Lucy Evans and Virginia Parsons; father & mother in law Rev. Thomas Howell & wife Margaret Parsons Howell, sister in law Juanita Howell, nephews: Palon, Felipe, & Kerry Howell.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years, Laura Jane Howell Parsons, daughter Michelle Parsons, son Nicholas Parsons & wife Sara, grandchildren: Jordan, Jamrion, & Alysson Parsons, brothers: John William, Robert & wife Magdalene, Douglas & wife Lisa, and Gary Parsons; sisters: Rachel Millsaps & husband James, Barbara Millsaps, Carolynn Lineberger, Celia Teague & husband Sanford, Mary Bell Moore, Maudie Horton & husband Luther, and Pamela Lineberger & husband Jack who was more like a brother; brother in laws: James, Tom, Graig, & Brian; sisters in law: Maryann, Pat, & Mamie Howell, and Diane Smith & husband Levy who was more like a brother; special cousin who is more like a brother, Terry McFarland & wife Loretta, and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral will be conducted on Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. John's Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. The body will lie in state an hour prior to the funeral service.
