Mr. John Columbus "Jack" Rogers, 84, of Statesville, formerly of Taylorsville passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2013 at Rosewood Assisted Living in Harmony. Mr. Rogers was born November 30, 1928 in Greenville, NC and was the son of the late Charles Enoch Rogers and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Rogers. He was a graduate of Taylorsville Schools and was married to the late Kathleen Faye Kerley Rogers, who passed away in 2006. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher. He retired from Bellsouth as a Supervisor and later worked 17 years with the N.C. Courier Service. He was a lifelong Shriner and a lifelong member of The Pioneers. John loved his family, the outdoors and was always a jokester. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Caroline Rogers Campbell (George) of Statesville, three grandchildren, Mary Caroline C. Howeth (Kevin) of Fort Mill, SC, Kathleen C. Pennell of Statesville, John Knox Campbell (Beth Anne) of Statesville; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Craig, Carter, Kobe, Grace, Liam, Elin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Statesville with Pastor Ernie Sheldon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
