John Wayne Connolly, age 79, born on March 15, 1945, in Alexander County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home in Alexander County on February 5, 2025. 

John proudly served his country in the United States Army and was Vietnam Veteran, a commitment that exemplified his dedication to others and his country. His military service was a testament to his character and integrity, values that he carried into every aspect of his life thereafter. Throughout his life, John enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed reading. His fondness for goats and the companionship of his beloved cat, Buddy, revealed his nurturing side and love for all living creatures.

John is survived by his siblings: Charlie Connolly (Linda), Robert Connolly (Margaret), Lucille Bond, and Kathleen Gwaltney (Richard). He is also remembered by special family member, Kenneth Wayne Connolly, his brother-in-law, Buckey Foster, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Doc Connolly and Dollie Gregory Connolly, as well as his spouses, Ruth Bunton Connolly and Thelma Flenders Connolly. John also mourned the loss of his siblings, Linda Foster, Donald Connolly, and William Connolly, along with his brother-in-law, Hal Bond.

The family will lead a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm at 888 Dock Connolly Lane, Hiddenite, NC 28636, where family and friends are invited to gather in honor of a remarkable man who touched many lives. Military rites will be provided.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
