God called home, John Gilbert Halyburton, age 83, beloved husband of Martha Halyburton on May 30, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist.  He was born October 23, 1928 to the late John Russell and Mary Bell Austin Halyburton.  John owned and operated Bebbers Food Center until his retirement and after his retirement he worked at Mays Hardware.  He was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church and served in the US Army - 82nd Airborne.  Including his wife, of 34 years, those left to cherish his memory are three daughters; Sherry Halyburton Prevatte and husband Jeff, of Granite Falls; Sandra G. Halyburton and fiancé John L. Browning, III, of Taylorsville; and Sonya S. Pearson and husband Ricky, of Stony Point.  Three grandchildren; Tiffany Moore and husband Clay, Landon and Tanner Pearson of Stony Point.  And expecting one great grandchild.  John also had some special friends in his life, the late Paul Jordan and wife Linda who survives.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 1:30pm - 3:00 pm at East Taylorsville Baptist Church and a service to celebrate his life will follow at 3:00pm.  Burial will follow at the Taylorsville City Cemetery.  Rev. Jamie Steele, Rev. Jerry Chatham, Rev. Mark Marshall and Rev. Kevin White will be officiating.  Pallbearers include Landon and Tanner Pearson, Michael Davis, Jeff Prevatte, Clay Moore and John Browning.  Special honorary pallbearer is Steve Lackey.  Military rights will be provided by the VFW Post 10,000.  Memorials may be sent to East Taylorsville Baptist Church - Building Fund @ Po Box 906, Taylorsville, NC  28681 or State Employees Family House @ 1970 Baldwin Lane, Winston-Salem, NC  27103.
