John Robert Scarbrough,

John Robert Scarbrough, age 42, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Catawba Memorial Hospital from complications following a heat stroke. He was born in Catawba County on March 26, 1972 to Charles L. and Sandra Moretz Scarbrough. John was a kindhearted, humble, caring person who was loved by everyone who knew him. He loved hot wheels, DC comics, and Blue Grass music. John also enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting items. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry T. and Bertie Hollar Moretz; paternal grandfather: Albert Leo Scarbrough; and uncle: John Alan Moretz.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents: Charles and Sandra Scarbrough; paternal grandmother: Dovie Scarbrough; sister: Amanda Atwood and husband, Mark; special niece and nephew: Sheradyn Hunt and Ryan McGaha; and a number of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. There is no formal service. Memorials may be made to the Scarbrough family and brought by the funeral home for delivery.
