John "Terry" Wike,  age 58, of Taylorsville passed away at his residence on Friday, January 3, 2014. Born in Alexander County on April 6, 1955 to the late Marcus and Vera (Fox) Wike, he was a member of Berea Baptist Church and loved reading and studying his Bible. He was best known in the community as owner of Wike Siding and Window Company, which he successfully operated for over 30 years.  He was well known for his trade expertise and outgoing, friendly personality.  Terry took pride in the quality of his work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and won awards for bow shooting. He looked forward to the yearly tradition of going to the mountains with his family and getting a real Christmas tree.
He took great pride in lovingly providing for his family.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years: Sandra (Kerley) Wike of the home; children: Tiffany DuBonn and husband John of Piedmont, SC; Jonathan Wike and wife Bethany of Taylorsville; Stephanie Byrd and husband Josh of Taylorsville; Whitney Bentley and husband Brian of Greenville, SC; and Kaitlen Wike of the home; grandchildren: Carson Wike and Clayton DuBonn; sister: Trisha Harrison of Taylorsville; niece: Kelly Harrison of Huntersville; and aunts: Lena Deal and Gladys Teague of Taylorsville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister: Ollie Mae Wike.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm at Berea Baptist Church and Service will begin at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Charles Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Liledoun Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Berea Baptist Church at 350 Berea Church Quincy Rd; Hiddenite, NC 28636.
