Johnnie Ray Griffin,

d. March 9, 2016

Johnnie Ray Griffin was born in Wilkes County on January 14, 1962 to Monroe and Mary Baldwin Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; two brothers, Lewis Griffin and Bobby Griffin; and three sisters, Belva Helen Griffin, Shirley Christine Griffin, and Mary "Inez" Griffin Richardson.
Johnnie is survived by his three brothers, Jim Griffin & wife Shirley of Wilkesboro, Vernon Griffin of Taylorsville, Rex Griffin & wife Sheila of Wilkesboro; four sisters, Louise Eller & husband David of North Wilkesboro, Teresa Ray & husband Tommy of Roaring River, NC, Rhonda Wood & husband Chip of Taylorsville, Rosetta Evans & husband Scott of Abingdon, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Johnnie's beloved sister Rhonda was his lifelong best friend and caretaker throughout his illness. She lovingly cared for him and was constantly by his side; she oversaw his care by the family and ensured that he was comfortable, his needs met, and his dignity maintained until the Lord called him home.
Johnnie gave his heart to Christ and turned his life around. His testimony was heartfelt and sincere. When his diagnosis and illness came, he relied upon the Lord daily for comfort, guidance, and peace. He testified that Jesus was helping each day, and that he was ready to meet Him face-to-face. At Johnnie's request, Rhonda faithfully read his Bible to him daily.
Johnnie was adored and beloved by his entire family, and all others who really knew him. He cherished all of his nieces and nephews-and made sure they knew it.
The graveside service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Davis Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Allan Fox & Rev. Tommy Mikeal.
