Joyce Wilma Childers Jolly

Joyce Wilma Childers Jolly passed away peacefully at her home in Alexander County on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Friday, July 10, 1942, in Alexander County, Joyce dedicated her life to caring for her family and cherishing the simple joys of life.

As a devoted homemaker, Joyce poured her heart into nurturing her family, creating a warm and loving atmosphere that will be treasured by all who knew her. She particularly enjoyed spending quality time with her grandson, and embracing every moment spent with him. Her nurturing spirit extended to her passions as well, which included collecting rocks, cooking, and enjoying the serene beauty of the mountains.

Joyce was a woman of faith and community, having been a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Iredell County and also attended Dover Baptist Church. Her contributions to her community and her unwavering faith were evident in all aspects of her life, inspiring those around her.

She is survived by her loving children, Jill Bowman and Phil M. Jolly (Kelley), as well as her cherished grandson, Ben Jolly. Joyce also leaves behind her sister, Shirley Daniels; her brother, Randy Childers (Michelle); her sister-in-law, Retha Sue Childers; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will deeply miss her presence.

Joyce was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carlie "Carl" Jolly, as well as her parents, Ceph Crowson Childers and Cloice Arlene Childers, brothers, Carl Childers and Rick Childers, and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Daniels.

A visitation for Joyce will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. A graveside service will follow at Jolly Cemetery, located at 847 Jolly Cemetery Road, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681, at 4:00 pm. Brother Phil Jolly will officiate. Corey Chapman, Jaden Chapman, Evan Chapman, Dylan Childers, Caleb Dison, and Steven Shumate will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank all the family and friends who stayed and helped take care of their mother, and a special thank you to Gail Armstrong.

Joyce will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind spirit, and her commitment to her community. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
