Judith Dean York Gantt

Judith Dean York Gantt, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. She was born to the late Raymond York and Dolly Canipe York on Thursday, July 15, 1948, in Burke County.  Mrs. York was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to church, traveling, cooking, and quilting.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gantt; sisters, Ruby Phyllis York Wright and Joyce York Elord; brothers, Ronnie S. York and Raymond N. York; brother-in-law, Dennis R. Brown; and a nephew that she raised, Darrell Wright.

Those left to cherish the memories of Judith include her brother, Robert Kelly York; sister, Janice Brown; three nieces and nephews that she raised, Cynthia Moody, Chuck Wright, and Debby Miller that was also her caregiver; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends from Regal Manufacturing, Hattie Adams, Brenda Bolick, and Ken O’Neil.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church for 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Eric Hauss will officiate.
